I had so much fun with this!!!! Gosh, I haven't had this much fun in a while haha!

I also accidentally found out how Rosuuri does her skin. Maybe thats not actually how she does it, but I found out a way to do so. Basically you do main color of your skin, shade it; then take the main skin color and gradient it over the skin where light falls, and set the layer as overlay (or play around). It literally HIGHLIGHTS the skin, making it look this bright. (I play around a lot with layers and gradients, when I saw it I was like "OOOOO")

Thank you for viewing x3!

Beautiful work! Everything is just gorgeous here! ^^

I also just want to say how kind it is of you to share advice with others. I've commented to at least two other artists on here asking for advice/tips, however they never responded and one of them even deleted her deviation and completely ignored my comment to her, which was just saying she inspired me, which made me feel kind of :/ despite I considered her an idol of sorts (I don't anymore after that) so I usually give up asking and lose inspiration in those artists and just find my own style/thing to do.

Thank you very much <3!

Hmm That's unfortunate :<, I was glad I was of some help! ;w; (even tho this tip is tiny haha) and maybe she deleted the deviation for another reason : o?

You're welcome! :aww:

I think she deleted it due to claiming that people copied her style too much, however I noticed that she had responded to everybody else that had commented on it so that's what put me off as well. It's just disheartening sometimes.

Really I guess it's just hard to find people on here that are actually willing to give out advice! XD

Oh I see x.x That's weird.

Actually I think there are plenty of them. There are also tons of tutorials. Basically I think everyone who submits tutorials are willing to give advice, and some select artists that don't have any. ^^ I don't think you should be afraid to ask for any.
However if its like a popular artist, they are probably flooded with comments, so I don't think they can answer everyone even if they want to.

Ah, yes I agree there are, but I mean in the sense of a certain style. Like for example, there's a specific style I like with how people shade hair. I've seen plenty of people do it, but when I look to see if they give any tutorials or advice, or speedpaints or basically anything that gives a hint as to maybe how to do it, there isn't anything and it results in having to ask, which is when mostly I never get a response. :)

It can get a bit frustrating, but I can understand not being able to answer everybody. I've mostly stopped asking now, so it was a surprise to me to see you offer some advice of your own accord. I think that's really nice of you!

Oh damn, what kind of style is it?

Yah I understand it must be :/ Usually when that's the case I just look at the art and with my knowledge of the program I try to replicate a certain effect or coloring from that artwork.
If there is a specific style you are looking for feel free to let me know. Maybe I've tried it before or maybe I'll be able to tell how the process goes (based on my experience).
And thank you ^^ I like to help out.

Forgive me for not crediting everybody (I can't remember their names, except for hen-tie) but it's pretty dead on to this. I could not find nor remember the original artist that I asked for advice but she had a style very similar. The soft shading with the hair.

I often just mix up my own styles, but for the longest time I cannot figure out how people get it so... soft/decent looking? If that makes sense. I know about softening lines and the such, but there's just something about it I can't quite get.
But thank you for offering to help ^^

Actually maybe this video of mine can be useful to show the brush tool? www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3Pous…
(I start coloring at: 4:35)

Its not the same technique as what I mentioned as I use brush and water, over and over again. But this picture has this soft feel as well I guess, because the shadow colors are close to the base color?
Plus if you master the tools you can create what you want. That soft look. Unfortunately I haven't mastered it yet (as I am more of a soft cell shade person atm), but these tools are what I would use to achieve the look you want.

Ok so based on these, they are actually all different. All 4.
The first on the left is Pikiru, and that is basically achieved with a pen brush (if you are using sai). Its literally cell shading. To make it a bit softer you can lock the layer and grab the main hair color and softly airbrush the shadows on the edges where you want it to be soft. (Like pikiru did that at the bottom of the pig tail on the left)

Top right, its a brush tool in SAI. Base color, pick a bit darker color, not too dark and use brush on the areas where you want there to be any shadow. On the same layer where you add the shadow pick a lighter color than the base and mark the highlights. Pick a base hair color and use it to blend the highlights. All with brush tool.

Bottom left. Thats pen tool like what I said about Pikiru. But to give this gradient, they just took a lighter color and took a large airbrush and lightly went over the whole head area, to give this soft effect. The highlights, like cell shade, are applied with hard pen (if sai), carefully with using eraser to give this shape.

Bottom right. I know this artist. I don't like her.... She is using ASK's style to make money on patreon. -.-....... (I made my newest picture inspired by ASK)
The technique is similar to top right, except you use less of the shadow color (to define the shape of the hair, making it look more 'round') and the shadow color isn't too dark from the base color, creating a soft look. To finish up, you use pen tool for highlights. The main tools for this is Brush in sai. Or if you are using photoshop it will be a brush with lowered opacity (try diff opacities, to see which one works better).

I did a rough sketch attempt towards ASK's style: Maika Sketch . Its very rough and I am not that great at it either, but I will work on it slowly. And ASK is amazing and I think you should check her out. (I think u can just google ASK) She has amazing art!

Well hope this helps owo!
